ESC Class starts Sunday 10/20 at 3:30pm at I Yarn for Ewe. Info and sign-up here!
The moment I saw the "Emotional Support Chicken" pattern by Annette Corsino, I knew I had to bust out the needles and get to work.
I spent all last weekend knitting her, working short rows, picking up stitches, attaching little blue eyes, stuffing her up (the most satisfying part), and finally, naming her.
This is Domenica! Named after my ancient Italian cousin (at least 150 years old), who raises chickens in the mountains of rural Abruzzo, and speaks only Italian dialect. This chicken is an ode to her pastoral ways.
Domenica is the gal next door, the most trusted friend, a good listener too! Isn't she a sweetheart?
Domenica was a joy to knit and a pleasure to show-and-tell at the office, where I urged everyone to hold her close to heart. She brought pleasant energy to Tuesday morning computer work. Everyone was sad to see her go at the end of the day.

If you're interested in making your own Emotional Support Chicken to help you through the cold winter months ahead, and would like knitting support along the way, please come to my class this Sunday!
The class is three sessions: October 20th, 27th, and November 3rd from 3:30 - 5pm at I Yarn for Ewe in Boise, and costs $75. The class will be great for newer knitters, for those needing support with short-rows and pattern reading, or for people just looking for some good community and chicken knitting.
I know this announcement is last minute since the class starts this week. If you are interested in this class but cannot make the dates, please let me know! I'm curious if there is enough interest to put another class on the calendar. I'm also just curious as to how many knitted chickens could be made in the Treasure Valley. Could you imagine, a chicken gathering? Adorable meter PEGGED.
Thanks for reading and happy chicken knitting!
Natalia
Interested in another ESC class later this year?
I would maybe take the class in January or February
I might knit the chicken on my own.
I plan to knit a whole brood.
I'd rather knit a turkey.
